Tore Remi
My Story – Personal accounts from and about 22 July

Tore Remi

Tore Remi was 25 years old when he survived the terror attack on AUF's summer camp in 2011. With his story, he hopes to shed nuances in the images that people have of the terror attack, and to strengthen the human dimension of 22 July.

His political engagement started when he was a child and wrote a letter to Gro Harlem Brundtland about emissions from Langøya near Sande, where he lived. However, he was only 20 years old when he became politically active. He had already been to Utøya several years earlier, when in 2011 he attended the summer camp as the secretary of AUF Buskerud.

Tore Remi managed to save his life by hiding in a toilet in the Café building along with five other people. He wants to share his story in order to emphasie the human aspect of terror and reach out to new generations:

If we don’t tell, the next generation won’t understand that this can happen. And when it does happen, they may stand without tools to handle it — says Tore Remi.

In these films he tells his story about what happened, about the time afterwards, and what he hopes we can learn from 22 July.
