The 22 July Centre is a governmental institution under the Ministry of Education. The Centre operates in line with annual allocation letters. In general, we work according to the following mandate:

The 22 July Centre is a commemoration and learning centre that disseminates knowledge about the terrorist attacks in Oslo and on the island of Utøya on 22 July 2011.

By means of exhibitions, teaching and documentation, the Centre will contribute to a history-based account of memories of the terrorist attacks for schools and the general public.

The Centre promotes discussion and reflection on 22 July and related themes in light of historical and contemporary national and global questions.
